How do I log into Baker Apps?

To access your Baker Apps you can log in by going to my.baker.edu, then click LOGIN on the left - enter your username (ex. "ahut01") in the space provided, and enter your password, or go to gmail.com and enter username@baker.edu ex. "ahut01@baker.edu" and enter your password.

    Can Google read my email?

    No, Google will store your mail next to it’s own private information.

    Will my Baker gmail have advertisements?

    No.


    Can I access my Baker Gmail account from another email program?

    We encourage to use the Baker Gmail web interface, however, if you wish to use a 3rd party email application we will have information on the website that will include the information you will need to setup your application.

    What if I already have a personal Google/Gmail account?

    Baker Apps accounts are totally separate from personal Google/Gmail account. As a best practice we recommend opening different accounts in different browsers and regularly clearing your cache.

    Which web browsers can I use with Baker Apps?

    Google Apps supports Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Safari.

    Are there any other system requirements?

    No. Because Baker Apps runs in a web browser, you just need to use a supported browser.

    Can I open my email or calendar in new tab (not a new window)?

    Yes, if you set up your browser to open links in a new window or tab.

    Can I access Baker Apps offline?

    Yes, you can set up Baker Gmail for offline access to your most recent email messages. To enable this feature, click Settings in the upper-right corner of your Mail window, click the Offline tab, and then click Enable Offline Mail for this computer.

    How often does the list of messages in my inbox automatically refresh?

    If you're working in Baker Gmail, the refresh rate is approximately every 30 to 60 seconds.

    Can I change the colors of my Mail window?

    Yes, you can choose from a number of different color schemes, or even create your own! Select "Themes" from you Baker Gmail settings.

    Can I access my Baker Gmail and Calendar on my mobile device?

    Yes, we will support mobile access on your Android or Apple device.

    Which tools are included are included in Baker Apps and what do they do?

    • Google Calendar, an agenda management tool, lets you schedule and share online calendars, and synchs to your mobile device. 
    • Google Docs is a group of tools that lets you create documents, spreadsheets, drawings and presentations. 
    • Google Groups are user-created groups where you can generate and manage mailing lists, enable content sharing and create searchable archives. 
    • Google Hangout is a collaborative chat tool that allows users to communicate in real time with each other.

    How do I export my Outlook Calendar into my Google Calendar?

    1. In Outlook, in Calendar, select a calendar to make it the active calendar in the view.
    2. On the File menu, click Save As.
    3. Type a name for the iCal file in the File name text box. This name should be easy to recognize and meaningful for you and your recipients.
    4. A summary of the calendar name, date range, and detail level appears next to More Options. If you are satisfied with the summary click OK, and click Save, otherwise make your changes then Save
    Note: If your calendar contains no items, a dialog box appears to provide you with a chance to cancel saving the iCalendar file.
    1. Log onto your Google Calendar account.
    2. Click Settings at the top of the page.
    3. Under Calendar Settings, click Import Calendar.
    4. Under Step 1: Select File, click Browse, choose the file that you created in step 8, and then click Open.
    5. Under Step 2: Choose Calendar, select the Google Calendar where you want to import your Outlook calendar.
    6. Under Step 3: Complete Import, click Import.
    Note: This is a static calendar that does not update, regardless of changes made to it in Outlook. To update the calendar in Google Calendar with the changes made to it in the Outlook calendar, you must repeat this procedure.


    Can I import documents, such as Microsoft Office documents, into Google Docs?

    Yes, you can import the following types of documents into Google Docs:

    • Microsoft Word (.doc, .docx)
    • Microsoft Excel (.xls, .xlsx)
    • Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt, .pps)
    • Rich Text (.rft)
    • Plain text (.txt)
    • HTML (.html)
    • PDF (.pdf)
    • Comma-separated values (.csv)
    • Tab-separated values (.tsv)
    • OpenDocument Text (.odt)
    • OpenDocument Spreadsheet (.ods)
